30 Years of GVÖ – Sharing Responsibility Together

The GVÖ celebrates its 30th anniversary. For three decades, the take-back system of the mineral oil industry has ensured the reliable and proper collection of plastic and tinplate packaging – with a clear focus on environmental responsibility and resource conservation.

As early as 1998, over 900 tonnes of plastic packaging and 283 tonnes of tinplate were collected. Today, the amount of plastic exceeds 4,800 tonnes – accounting for more than half of the packaging involved. Tinplate collection has also increased significantly.

"We didn’t just collect – we built something," the anniversary speech proclaims. GVÖ looks back on established structures, reliable partners, and a take-back system that has been continuously developed.

A special thanks goes to the shareholders and licensing partners, the service providers along the entire take-back logistics chain, and the employees who have supported the system for years with dedication and reliability.

At the same time, the focus is on the future: the use of regranulate from collected plastic packaging, new services for compliance verification, and the expansion of the take-back system to European countries are all on the agenda.

30 years of take-back are good. 30 years of foresight are better.
